Illegal Immigration to Canada

Illegal immigrants are people who are not legally permitted to live in a country. Every year, hundreds and thousands of people attempt to enter Canada illegally from Hungary, Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentina, Panama, Central America, Eastern Europe, Ireland and other countries. Both the United States and Canada face serious illegal immigration problems. Failed refugee claimants and people with expired visas are illegal immigrants. It is believed that about 8% of foreigners attempt to enter Canada illegally. Another 64,000 people (8%) have expired visas. Some people enter the country as undocumented persons because of economic reasons.

As per an immigration report in 2003, the estimated number of undocumented people living in Canada is somewhere between 100,000 to 200,000. A few illegal immigrants exhaust all avenues of becoming legal and continue to live, work and contribute to Canada’s economy for long. Increased security protection in United States following September 11, 2001 has also resulted in an increase in the number of illegal immigrants to Canada.

Illegal immigration to Canada can be reduced by verifying social insurance numbers. In Canada, a social insurance number beginning with the number nine shows that the person holding it is not a citizen. The expiration date must be verified to make sure that the number is still valid. Human Resources and Skills Development Canada can support problems in this region.

When compared to United States, illegal immigration to Canada is less. One can enter Canada either illegally, or as a refugee, citizen, or permanent immigrant. Entering illegally should not be necessary in Canada, because the country has the most liberal immigration and refugee entry laws in the world. Continue Reading

Illegal Immigration Effect on Economy is Sincerely Revolting

Illegal immigration effect on economy is indeed dismal and has many negative aspects on society. Illegal immigrants cause a lot of damage to the United States and most Americans are not aware of the harm they cause. The list of how they negatively impact the US can go on for miles, but only a small few will be briefly discussed.

The public schools are one way that illegal immigration effect on economy is awful. Educating illegal aliens is costing Americans millions of dollars each year and is putting the public school system in crises. With just legal American parents placing their children is school; the school system would be fine because they all pay their taxes which helps support the school. But more and more illegal aliens are pouring into the country, placing their children in school, and not paying any taxes. This causes the enrollment to up as requiring more money to maintain and yet the tax money that pays for the education stays the same.

The end result is a huge drain on the entire school system. This is because there is no longer enough money to continue to support everyone. They are now cutting school programs that there is no budget for. Teachers are being let go because paying their salaries are no longer in the budget. So, as the class size increases, the teachers available to teach the children decrease. This results in a poor education for the children.

Jobs are another way that illegal immigration effect on economy is bad. Illegal immigrants come over to the United States on a consistent basis looking for work. They seek out jobs which they can blend into without having to provide an ID. These jobs are usually hard labor, lower end jobs. This is a huge problem because in doing this they are taking the jobs away from Americans that could get that job. Every job an illegal alien obtains, is a job that us stolen from an American. Who is to Blame For the Fuss About Arizona’s Immigration Law?

A reasonable definition of prejudice is “contempt prior to investigation.” The hubbub over the recent legislation allowing Arizona’s state and local police officials to enforce what is already existing federal law seems political in nature rather than a genuine concern over individual rights. Those speaking out and demonstrating about the new statute apparently have not read the bill and believe they can convince people not familiar with the SR 1070 is unfair to certain groups.

America is a free country. This affords us the opportunity to express our opinions without fear of government reprisal. However, with this right goes a responsibility to not endanger the lives of others. For instance, we cannot shout “fire” in a crowded place since it may cause panic and people could be injured or even killed. Calling SB 1070 divisive, racist and xenophobic is akin to this kind of dangerous behavior. But this does not deter those with special agendas from heating up an uninformed public by telling them to condemn, boycott and cause all kinds of civil disorder designed to somehow hurt the state and people of Arizona.

“Don’t confuse me with the facts because my mind is already made up” is not the kind of thinking that will help the cause of those here illegally. Actually it could harm them in the long run by forcing fair-minded Americans to decide if amnesty should be granted to those who have shirted the law. This country needs immigrants to bring their skills and energies to the workforce, to be consumers and to pay taxes; but it must be done legally. Why and Los Angeles and other cities refuse to do business with Arizona while several states may pass similar laws? Opposing views cannot be heard because of the vitriol.

We entrust our elected representatives to make laws. Enforcement is the job of our police system. This means protecting all of us within the boundaries of the law. A quick read through the Arizona bill, something the country’s Attorney General admitted he had not done when he was asked about his opinion of the law during a recent congressional questioning session, shows the legislation does not profile individuals or groups. So why would the nation’s chief legal administrator warn that the bill may be prejudicial when he does not know what the language is that he claims is offensive? Continue Reading
